Music

Our music with an Arabic translation

Recording studio

Music is an important part of Marketplace shows. So we wanted something special for our two weeks of Middle East broadcasts. We sought out recommendations from musicians, music-label owners, aficionados and friends, and then chose songs that reflected some of the diverse sounds, styles and rhythms of the region. We also turned to ethnomusicologist Ben Harbert to bring Arabic influences into the theme songs for our shows. We hope you enjoy the music we've chosen and that Ben and our musicians have produced. You can listen to the Arabic versions of our theme songs below. And if you'd like, send us your recommendations so we can expand our musical selections.
