Forget green beer

Scott Jagow Mar 17, 2010

I’ve been on the hunt for a fun St. Patrick’s Day business story, and I believe I’ve found it. I just had to watch the ringing of the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange.

The man ringing the bell was Colum Egan, the Master Distiller of Bushmills Irish Whiskey. Egan’s been told he has the best job in the world, and now, he’s giving one person the chance to share it for a month.

The winner of the Make it at Bushmills contest will:

Live in luxury accommodation, all expenses paid (in Northern Ireland).

Get £5,000 and return flights to Ireland.

Create your own blend of Bushmills Irish Whiskey.

Experience world-class surf beaches, golf courses and the stunning area around Bushmills.

Invite a friend to come and visit for some, or all, of your stay – and we’ll pay for their flights.

Egan says:

“If someone can prove to us that they have what it takes then we’d be delighted to let them be the first person outside of the distillery to work alongside me to create their own special blend of Bushmills Irish Whiskey – I hope it’s not too good though. I like my job too much!”

Make a short video about why they should choose you and upload it to Bushmills Facebook page.

Apparently, it might help to know the difference between Irish Whiskey and Scottish Whisky, aside from the fact that one is spelled with an “e”. So, there’s a head start…
