Interesting divergence coming out of our editorial meeting today:
1. Apple is shutting down Lala, the cloud-based music service it acquired very recently. TechCrunch is one of many places where speculation about an impending cloud-based iTunes model is abounding. It’s pretty unlikely that Apple would pull the plug on Lala because they don’t see a future in music and the cloud. Personally, I like the idea of being able to listen to my music wherever I like, unless it’s that Wiggles album the kids have.Â
2. Record Store Day was held recently and it says here that sales of vinyl records were up 376% on that day over a year ago. We’re trying to line up an interview with a newly-opened vinyl record store in Los Angeles.
