34,000 Facebook users want to plug BP leak with Ayn Rand

Facebook users have come up with myriad ideas for plugging the leak (generally ones that reveal a sense of resentment or their political leanings), but one page suggesting the use of the works of controversial author Ayn Rand is picking up particular speed; 33,805 users would see fit to fill the worst oil leak in U.S. history with copies of Atlas Shrugged, Rand’s best-known novel.

Ayn Rand was infamous for her strong philosophy of laissez-faire capitalism, enforced by a constitutionally limited government. In economics, the term “laissez-faire” refers to allowing the industry to be free of state intervention.
