For Marketplace Friday, July 23, 2010
This week something strange happened, we had a lot of last minute edits, fixes and changes to the show – the result? I didn’t get a chance to really think about our bridge music … but sometimes it works out for the best.
Digging through the Marketplace musical crates I happened upon something great – which happens when you dig through crates sometimes – “Wolves,” by Dosh, a Minneapolis-based musician and producer.
Although he goes by Dosh, his given name is Martin Luther King Chavez Dosh … that in and of itself is amazing. Even though the album that the song comes from, “Wolves and Wishes,” was released in 2008, it has a total throwback feel. A time when a band had a multi-piece brass section. Think of a James Brown, think of Maceo Parker, think of Parliament Funkadelic … when I heard Dosh, that’s what I thought.
Enjoy.
