Our headlines today were teeming with surprises. U.S. consumers set a new record for imported goods despite the economy still slumping, Toyota’s acceleration mishaps were turned around on the driver, and China’s urbanization was pegged as a culprit in a crisis that, on the surface, would seem more natural. Our musical choices reflectively zagged where a listener might want to zig, starting with a jumpstart and ending with a melodious float. We can’t help it; it’s just what the news does to us.
