For Marketplace Morning Report, Tuesday, August 24, 2010
A lot of this morning’s stories involve road and driving-related terms. First, the obvious one — There’s a major, 10-day(!) traffic jam in China. Analysts say it could last over a month. How does that even happen? Apple is hoping to stop jailbreakers, so it filed a patent. Federal Reserve officials were divided over its plan to buy more government debt. Detroit may the next city to block out the felony checkbox on job applications. A judge has put the brakes on funding for stem-cell research. And, OK, I may be stretching it now. So here’s other stories we covered: India travelers are worried about the country’s BlackBerry policy, Philly bloggers may have to pay up, and South Africa’s president seeks investment. Plus, these are the songs we played:
- Voice From Cellar X — IllformBuy
- Straight up — LunaBuy
- Late Shift — The Hard To GetBuy
- Lex — RatatatBuy
- Smoke — Medeski, Martin & WoodBuy
