MIDDAY UPDATE: Another Toyota recall

Shelly Moulton Oct 21, 2010

Toyota is in the news again with another recall, this time mechanical problems with 1.5 million vechicles. And keeping on track with transportation, we look at high speed rail — one of the Obama’s admininstration initiatives — which may be rerouted during Florida’s midterm election. We will also make a stop in California’s San Joaquin Valley, where air quality regulators will vote on making car owners pay for pollution.

Across the ocean, Europe is preparing to tackle huge budget deficits. Credit markets are reacting happily, but some British citizens are expressing concerns. Meanwhile in France, riots have continued with a blockade of that country’s largest oil port in Marseille.

And finally, back in Chicago, a new study shows that two old coal mines are making people sick.
