SHOCKING: National Enquirer to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy

Kai Ryssdal Nov 1, 2010

This final note today. Another icon of American journalism’s going under. The publisher of the National Enquirer announced today it’s going to file for Chapter 11 sometime in the next couple of weeks. American Media — proud owner of Star magazine as well as Men’s Fitness and Shape — has been having a tough time competing in the cut-throat business of covering celebrities going up against People, TMZ and US weekly to name just three. Thought that was a fitting close to a day that saw the Kardashian sisters mentioned on this broadcast for the first time.
