For Marketplace, Friday, November 19, 2010
In today’s show, we talked about Fed chairmen Ben Bernanke’s bold words today in Germany, as he stood his ground against critics and warned that quantitative easing was necessary to keep the U.S. economy going, and subsequently keep the world’s economy growing. Back here in the U.S., Kai spoke to photographer Jonathan Blaustein about his “The Value of a Dollar” project, which consists of stark photos of food, separated in $1 increments. We also looked at the effectiveness of stock buybacks, and how teacher training is changing in Louisiana. Sports Illustrated’s Jon Wertheim talked about the relationship between college athletes and money. And finally, we had the Weekly Wrap, as well as a peek into this weekend’s Dinner Party Download.
