Stop using single-use plastics

Matt Berger Nov 27, 2010

Plastics pose a significant threat to our oceans and planet. Part of the problem is plastic itself. They very qualities that make it an adaptable and durable product to use, also make it an environmental nightmare.

Plastic does not biodegrade, but rather photodegrades – breaking down into smaller and smaller pieces. And in the ocean, it can be mistaken for food by marine animals. In some parts of the Pacific, plastic particles outnumber plankton 46 to one. What is worse, is over one million sea birds and animals die from ingestion of or entanglement in plastics.

By pledging to eliminate as much single-use plastic from our daily routines as possible, which includes using reusable water bottles and grocery bags, and recycling we are doing our part to protect marine life and keep our beaches and oceans clean and healthy for future generations.
