Vitaly Borker runs/ran this website for eyeglasses and the scam he ran was all about search engine optimization. He’d give terrible service, rip people off pretty much, and then wait for their complaints to bring him more fame and higher ranking in Google search results. He’s being held without bail because according to the Judge, Borker is either “verging on psychotic” or has “an explosive personality.” This arrest comes 8 days after the NY Times ran a story about how he abused his customers. For example, one woman wanted to return the glasses she bought from Decor My Eyes, believing them to be fakes. Borker “threatened to sexually assault her and later sent her a photograph of the front of her apartment building. He also sent menacing e-mails, one of which stated that she had put her “hand in fire. Now it’s time to get burned.”
You know, just like they taught at Wharton.
The Times story about this scam resulted in Google changing its search algorithm. Now Borker is busted, charged with cyberstalking, making interstate threats, mail fraud, and wire fraud. Cops found a lot of weapons and ammo in his apartment. Nice guy.
