Jamming spectrum is a new tool of war

John Moe Jan 21, 2011

Here’s a crazy one.

Wired reports on the Navy’s plan to equip planes with the Next Generation Jammer, a system in development that could launch cyberattacks from the sky. It could do things like “disable remotely detonated, improvised explosive devices” and “insert viruses into command networks” In his announcement on Pentagon spending earlier this month, Robert Gates said that he was speeding up the development of this technology, and right now, there are four companies trying to lock down a contract with the government.
