This final note today, the first and last comment you’ll hear on this broadcast about last night’s Academy Awards. Somebody here in the office called me “old” today. Just ’cause I thought James Franco did a lousy job last night.
First of all, ouch. Second of all, I’m right. The ratings numbers don’t lie. Nielsen reported preliminary numbers for the telecast today. Overall down 7 percent from a year ago. And that younger hipper demographic the Academy was going for? Two percent fewer of them, as well.
Call me old, hmph.
