AOL layoffs happening today

John Moe Mar 10, 2011

Hundreds of AOL employees both in the US and in India will be laid off today, according to Kara Swisher of All Things D. The cuts will be mostly felt on the content side where the recent acquisition of Huffington Post created some redundancies in terms of content creation. Arianna Huffington was put in charge of all content in that acquisition and she has built something of an empire out of getting a whole lot of people to make a whole lot of content for free. So given the choice between paying for something and not, AOL is choosing not.
