For Marketplace, Friday, March 11, 2011

The big news of the day was the earthquake and tsunami that hit Japan. Kai spoke to The Economist’s Kenneth Cukier about the upcoming recovery. Steve Henn reported on the high-tech warning systems that were put to the test today, and how well they worked.

We also had stories on the difficulties faced by women entrepreneurs in Afghanistan, and the U.S.’s health care reform’s accountable care organizations. Illinois is expanding sales tax to online purchases. And there was the Weekly Wrap with Leigh Gallagher and Sudeep Reddy, and small talk from Marketplace staffers. Here were the songs we played:

  • 1st and 4th – Mux MoolBuy
  • Paper Planes (M.I.A.) – Instrumental Hip Hop Beat MakersBuy
  • A.D.I.D.A.S. – Killer MikeBuy
  • The Holograms – Fol ChenBuy
  • We Are – AnwarriorBuy
