Dish plans to keep some Blockbusters open

John Moe Apr 19, 2011

Dish Network, which acquired the smoldering remains of Blockbuster Video earlier this month, said that it plans to keep the leases of about 500 stores nationwide. Thing is, there are about 1700 Blockbusters presently clinging to life. That means 1200 are going down. The number could rise or fall but I can’t imagine the remaining stores are resting easy on this news. Dish bought Blockbuster mostly for their digital inventory of movies, the stores are all fading.
