Contrary to expectations, the government didn’t revise first-quarter growth up from 1.8 percent, meaning consumer spending is low. Heinz’s profits are rising, but they’re still closing down factories. Newspapers are entering the deals market. The Supreme Court upheld the Arizona immigration law that punishes businesses that hire undocumented immigrants. Oil sands have become an alternative to the increasingly scarce liquid oil.
