At the G8 conference in France, Japan announced it is cancelling plans to expand nuclear energy in favor of solar energy. Lawmakers in the U.S. are debating about whether federal disaster aid should be offset by other budget cuts. Commentator Amity Shlaes spoke about how presidents handle the budget system. The Senate is blocking President Obama from naming any heads of federal agencies over the holiday weekend.

A new feature will allow you to track your luggage the same way you track a package. Kai spoke with Marketplace Money host Tess Vigeland about buyer’s remorse. And we also had the weekly wrap with Felix Salmon and Marketplace’s Heidi Moore. And here are the songs we played:

  • Another Sunny Day – Belle & SebastianBuy
