Twitter to suck more

John Moe Jun 24, 2011

That’s because sponsored tweets are about to find their way into your tweet stream. Twitter has had things like sponsored trends and sponsored follow suggestions for a while but the advertisements haven’t found their way into the actual content yet. Mashable says that’s going to happen in the next eight weeks. When you think about it, there’s no reason Twitter shouldn’t do this. You read a magazine, there are ads. You look at a website, ads. But it’s likely going to lead to a whole lot of squawking among tweeters, you know the people who use the service for free. Hashtag: #entitlement. Twitter will make $100 million this year on ads. Facebook will make $3.5 billion.

There’s a lot happening in the world.  Through it all, Marketplace is here for you.

You rely on Marketplace to break down the world’s events and tell you how it affects you in a fact-based, approachable way. We rely on your financial support to keep making that possible.
