Carol Bartz was let go yesterday by the chairman of the board of Yahoo. I know I should be spelling Yahoo the proper way, with the exclamation point, but this doesn’t seem like a Yahoo! time for Yahoo. No one is really surprised that Bartz was canned. The company wasn’t going anywhere and she wasn’t widely loved while she was there. Still, a lot of people seem to be focusing on the fact that she was fired over the phone, because that seems kind of, I don’t know, cold. Bartz even brought it up in her awkward farewell message, which read:
To all,
I am very sad to tell you that I’ve just been fired over the phone by Yahoo’s Chairman of the Board. It has been my pleasure to work with all of you and I wish you only the best going forward.
Carol
