I think we need a new category for stories here. Maybe a new segment on the radio. It’s called “What are you up to?” We use it for stories about companies who seem really active in ways that don’t completely connect and leave us wondering what the connection is. We’ve been hearing about Dish Network launching a new Netflix-esque streaming service based on content acquired in the purchase of Blockbuster. Now we’re hearing that Dish is rumored to have second highest bid for Hulu. It’s the highest if you discount Google’s presumed restrictions and conditions it wants in the deal. What’s that all about? What would they do with it? Are they strangling competition? Streamlining content for some entertainment set up outside the satellite dish model?
