iPhone 4S goes on sale, everything gets crashy

John Moe Oct 7, 2011

Apple started taking pre-orders for the iPhone 4S (the Fours… iFours…Quatro- S… SQuatro?) at midnight. Its site promptly crashed and was down for around 40 minutes due to high traffic volume. Verizon’s site stayed up but Sprint and AT&T were both having a hard time. “Siri! Get me web access! Wait, you can’t because I don’t have you yet!”
