Mid-day Extra: Going brown to go green

Adriene Hill and Jeremy Hobson Jan 25, 2012

We all know that more and more people are trying to go “green” these days.

Well, it seems that a lot of major companies are opting for brown to show just how green they really are.

According to the Wall Street Journal, more and more big companies are opting to use brown paper products instead of white. Cascades Tissue Group is even coming out with brown toilet paper in the coming week.

In today’s Mid-day Extra, we look why companies are stocking their stores with these recycled options.

Here to talk with us is Libby Bernick, VP of consulting at UL Environment, which works to help make companies a little greener.

She says that it all depends on what the manufacturing process is whether brown colored paper products are actually better for the environment. But that subtle color difference definitely triggers a response in the consumer conscience, no matter how much greener the products are.
