Weekly Wrap: Jobs, Facebook, and Golf

Sarah Gardner Apr 6, 2012

It’s Friday, which means it’s time for the weekly wrap of Wall Street and beyond. To make sense of it all is our very own New York Bureau chief Heidi Moore and Sudeep Reddy of the Wall Street Journal, both joining us from New York.

This week it’s all about jobs. This morning’s monthly report revealed a small drop in the unemployment rate for the month of March, but job growth was sluggish in most sectors, with manufacturing again being one bright spot. The long-term unemployed – those out of work for 40 weeks or more – are also still struggling to find work. Does this mean the Fed is going to be under pressure to do more to stimulate the economy?

Also up for discussion: Facebook says they want to trade on the NASDAQ instead of the New York Stock Exchange. What’s the difference?

And finally, will the female CEO of IBM get access into the all-male club at the Masters at Augusta National Golf Club like all previous sponsors of the event? So far they haven’t extended her a membership, Heidi Moore speculates as round-two of the tournament continues.
