Hearing on ‘the future of television’ wraps up in New York and awaits ruling

It’s another battle in the television wars: Aereo is a service that lets you view broadcast TV on your mobile device (oh, and they’re not paying the networks retransmission fees). Not cool, say the networks, who rely on these fees and advertising revenue. More services like Aereo will mean an end of the broadcast industry as we know it — at least that was the argument presented by the networks’ lawyers in the hearing that ended yesterday in New York. A ruling is expected next month.
