Running interns get some glory

David Brancaccio and Katie Long Jun 27, 2013

There are a lot of dopey things summer interns get asked to do, the Starbucks run among them. But sometimes the assignment is exalted. For so many of the TV correspondents we saw in front of the Supreme Court with first word on yesterday’s landmark decisions on gay and lesbian rights, there was an off-screen intern running madly to the correspondent clutching a printout of the decisions.

In honor of these valiant interns at this moment in history, Buzzfeed has assembled a montage of them in action. The site suggests they’re best viewed while listening to the theme from Chariots of Fire.

It’s been a week of momentous decisions and determined interns. On Monday, this 6-second Vine video captured SCOTUSblog intern Dan Stein doing a heroic bob-and-weave to deliver the court’s affirmative action decision to NBC legal correspondent Pete Williams. The video, filmed by George Washington University student Daniel Wein, has since been retweeted over 1,000 times.
