This final note today. We know Jeff Bezos is spending $250 million to buy the Washington Post.
But he’s spending money his money in other ways, too: That includes a 200-foot clock that’s being built inside a mountain on his property in West Texas. It’s supposed to be able to run for thousands of year, with special chimes each decade, century and millenium. Bezos calls it the 10,000 Year Clock.
Thus far, according to the Wall Street Journal, he’s spent $42 million on the clock (meaning, just one-sixth of the cost of the Washington Post).
