The professional social networking site LinkedIn is popular among many working adults, but Thursday the company opened its digital doors to minors. For LinkedIn, there are obvious upsides to lowering the entry age from 18 to 14, but Brian Blau, research director at Gartner, said colleges benefit as well.

“All schools can benefit from the extra recruiting help and having those students sort of have access to that information and at the same time start to build up and get resume skills. That I think is pretty intriguing for college bound teens,” he says.

Blau joined Marketplace Tech host Ben Johnson to discuss the change and possible dangers for LinkedIn.
