Earlier this week, Facebook was widely criticized online for not keeping phone numbers private. Yesterday, Facebook chief executive Mark Zuckerberg announced — in a 3,000-word post — that the company is in the process of integrating Instagram, WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger, creating a “digital living room,” where communications will be private and encrypted. Is this a case of the fox volunteering to guard the digital hen house?
