I’m Meghan McCarty Carino, Marketplace’s new Workplace Culture reporter, and it’s my job to talk about your job: what you love about it, what you’d change about it and how it affects your life in ways large and small.
We spend a third of our day at work (if we’re lucky). It’s where we often find friends, sometimes love, hopefully inspiration and usually a sense of identity. Oh yeah, and of course the whole paycheck thing!
Our work is where we place some of our greatest hopes and deal with some of our greatest challenges. Its changing nature reflects the larger forces of our world and culture, from the rise of the gig economy and automation, to the #MeToo movement, pay disparities and digital nomads.
The Workplace Culture Desk has been made possible by a generous grant from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation.
There’s a lot happening in the world. Through it all, Marketplace is here for you.
You rely on Marketplace to break down the world’s events and tell you how it affects you in a fact-based, approachable way. We rely on your financial support to keep making that possible.
Your donation today powers the independent journalism that you rely on. For just $5/month, you can help sustain Marketplace so we can keep reporting on the things that matter to you.
