Financial Literacy Resources

Marketplace’s special “Inside the Movement to Teach Kids About Money,” illustrates that states are implementing new financial literacy requirements for schools in a wide variety of ways. For school districts and teachers looking for ways to make financial literacy a part of their lesson plans, we have compiled list of free or low-cost resources.

The Council for Economic Education offers programs for teachers, students and families — and by state.

NextGen Personal Finance offers free curriculum for middle and high schoolers.

Marketplace offers “Financially Inclined,” our series of video-first podcasts for teens and young adults. Each episode offers a listening and activity guide for teachers, created by our partners at NextGen Personal Finance.

For younger students, we offer “Million Bazillion,” a show that answers the questions kids have about money. We offer teaching guides for a select number of episodes, as well.

Different parts of the federal government also have free instructional materials, including the Federal Reserve.

The American Banking Association has its own resources and offerings, too.
