Conan O’Brien has given his first post-Tonight Show interview to “60 Minutes.” The interview airs this Sunday, May 2nd. NBC apparently prohibited O’Brien from airing an interview any sooner than that. O’Brien also promised NBC he would not disparage Jay Leno or network executives.
Still, in the tidbits of the interview that have been released so far, O’Brien does seem to say some revealing things…
Perhaps most telling, O’Brien says he wouldn’t have done what Jay Leno did.
“He went and took that show back, and I think in a similar situation, if roles had been reversed, I know – I know me, I wouldn’t have done that,” O’Brien tells “60 Minutes” correspondent Steve Kroft.
O’Brien also argues that he was never given a fair shake as host, and that NBC’s decision to oust him was all about money, though O’Brien insists his show wasn’t really the financial loser NBC executives would have the public believe.
